Description: Growing Cities is a documentary film that examines the role of urban farming in America and asks how much power it has to revitalize our cities and change the way we eat. The film follows two friends on a road trip across the country, where they meet the people who are challenging the way this country grows and distributes its food—from those growing food in backyards to make ends meet; to educators with the goal of teaching children to eat better; to activists seeking a meaningful alternative to the industrial food system, and more. At its core, the film asks viewers to re-imagine what’s possible in urban settings and shows how everyone can be a producer in a society driven by consumption.

SloWednesday is the second Wednesday of each month April through October after the Schlafly Farmers Market. The cost of each film is a suggested donation of $5.00. Proceeds benefit Slow Food St. Louis’ Small Farm Micro Biodiversity Grant, which has given $55,000 to local farmers. SloWednesday is sponsored by: Schlafly Beer.

Hi there, I was just looking at your schedule and there is either a mistake on your website or the growing cities websites. It has listed you will be showing the film tomorrow evening and on the website it says it will be shown on Saturday. I do not know which one is correct but I am trying to helping market the film a bit and with the schedules being mismatched doesn’t help much :/ Please let me know when it is going to be shown so I can share with friends!

It is, in fact, tomorrow at 7:30pm following the Schlafly Farmers Market at the Bottleworks in Maplewood.
