Description: Every year, more than 400,000 American children are torn away from their friends, schools, and homes to pick the food we all eat. Zulema, Perla, and Victor labor as migrant farm workers, sacrificing their own childhoods to help their families survive. The Harvest profiles these children as they “journey from the scorching heat of Texas’ onion fields to the winter snows of the Michigan apple orchards and back south to the humidity of Florida’s tomato fields to follow the harvest.”

SloWednesday is the second Wednesday of each month April through October after the Schlafly Farmers Market. The cost of each film is a suggested donation of $5.00. Proceeds benefit Slow Food St. Louis’ Small Farm Micro Biodiversity Grant, which has given $55,000 to local farmers. SloWednesday is sponsored by: Schlafly Beer.

Where do these stats come from? We have child labor laws, so I seriously doubt the authenticity of the numbers.
